FREMONT, CA: Nevomo, a Polish deep-tech company, has obtained funding from the EU to hasten the introduction of its hyperloop-inspired high-speed rail system across Europe.
Nevomo, a Warsaw-based company, is working to improve Europe's current rail infrastructure by implementing its MagRail technology. This enables train transportation at up to 550kph using magnetic levitation and a linear motor. It plans to implement hyperloop technology to move people and cargo at up to 1,200 kph or nearly the speed of sound. Due to this, it would be possible to cover the almost 550 kilometres between Berlin and Frankfurt in 30 minutes.

The idea behind the hyperloop is to enable high-speed transport by enclosing pods in a vacuum tube with remarkably low air pressure to lessen friction. While European players like Zeleros and Hardt Hyperloop are developing related advancements, Virgin Hyperloop tested this technology in Nevada in 2020.
EIT InnoEnergy, an EU organisation encouraging sustainable energy and transportation solutions in Europe, provided the most recent investment in Nevomo. Its investment is a part of a Euro 5 million bridge round that was completed earlier this year and included Hutter Private Equity, ValueTech Seed, and Seedrs.
According to Lucienne Kross, who oversees the EIT's hyperloop portfolio, Nevomo's technology is the missing connection between the current, frequently incredibly antiquated train infrastructure and completely new high-speed systems like the hyperloop. This can both hasten the adoption of this new form of long-distance, environmentally friendly transportation and significantly lower the costs related to such a change.
Nevomo's MagRail was originally demonstrated in a small-scale demo form in 2019, and then it underwent mid-size testing during the previous two winters. It began building Europe's longest track last year to test passive magnetic levitation in Poland, inspired by the hyperloop.
Nevomo is getting ready to undertake more testing this winter and early next year after installing all the necessary components and outfitting the first full-scale test vehicle. Nevomo has joined the portfolio of businesses inspired by the hyperloop that EIT InnoEnergy has, together with Zeleros from Spain and Hardt Hyperloop from the Netherlands. Przemek Ben Pczek, CEO and co-founder, said that becoming a portfolio company of one of the world's top investors in sustainable energy and transportation is evidence from the market that they are on the right track with developing their hyperloop-driven technology.
