Mahmee raises $3 million, promising better healthcare to mothers and babies during pregnancy and at the time of delivery.

FREMONT, CA: Mahmee has announced it has raised a $3 million investment from Mark Cuban, Serena Ventures and others. The investment round was held by Arlan Hamilton’s ArlanWasHere Investments with support from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund. Other investors that took part in the event were Cross Culture Ventures, Acumen America, The Helm, Backstage Capital, Bumble Fund, Pipeline Angels, and others.

Mahmee connects maternal and infant‘s health status by looking at history and data, by actively engaging and checking on patients through maternity coaches which can be monitored by doctors. Maternal and infant care stays up-to-date, and critical red flags are not missed. Mahmee provides this through the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) secure, an online platform available to expecting parents and medical providers.

Maternal and infantry deaths are being common in the United States. 700 mothers die due to birth complications, while 50,000 of them become severely injured each year. The Center for Disease Control mentioned in a comment, for every five mothers dying in the US from pregnancy and childbirth, three could have been saved.

“In the maternity healthcare process, on the surface there are generally three or four people involved: the mother, the baby, and each of their physicians. What we don’t see are the many other people helping them: nurses, lactation consultants, midwives, nutritionists, therapists, doulas, home health aids, social workers, and more,” said Melissa Hanna, CEO and Co-Founder of Mahmee. “And this industry is lacking the IT infrastructure needed to connect these professionals from different organizations to each other, and to follow and monitor patients across practices and health systems. This missing element creates gaps in care. Mahmee is the glue that connects the care ecosystem and closes the gaps.”

With the new funding, Mahmee focuses on growing with its leading engineers, clinicians, and sales staff integrating health industry know-how, proprietary technology, and data-driven clinical workflows to support Mahmee’s existing and forthcoming partnership with new strategies of health systems across the globe.

Mahmee covers over 1,000 health providers and organizations, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, AltaMEd, Children’s Hospital LA, UCLA and many more. Mahmee’s platform has reached out in curing over thousands of critical issues like sepsis, postpartum psychosis, and postnatal hemorrhaging. Mahmee’s successful team verifies the risks and raises the issue to the doctor's attention, by providing proper care. Mahmee has an account of working with both private and Medicaid- focused health platform.

Mary Grove, Partner at Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund commented, “Mahmee with their expert background brings a critical change, which the healthcare industry needs. We're proud to join Mahmee’s mission and look forward to helping the team expand its influence to a global stage and revolutionize maternity care.”
