THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING
Sustainability-focused last-mile shipping platform, Liefergrün, has just closed a €3 million funding round. The funding was led by SpeedInvest with participation from Norrsken VC.
FREMONT, CA: Liefergrün was founded in Münster in 2017 to enable guilt-free online shopping by lowering the environmental impact of deliveries. As a result, the motto "we respect your shopping," is dedicated to providing a fair, social, and emissions-free delivery experience.

Liefergrün offers flexible delivery windows and real-time tracking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Return deliveries can also be planned and are completely sustainable. The firm, which is already active in 30 German cities, uses a fleet of cargo bikes and electric vehicles stationed at several micro-distribution hubs to provide emission-free delivery of goods purchased online to consumers. The young firm collaborates with brands such as Adidas, Dyson, and Every to offer a variety of services, including two-hour and next-day delivery, which clients can follow in real-time via an app.
Liefergrün believes that handling the emissions-heavy last mile of delivery reduces the release of 420 grams of CO2 every delivery. In Germany alone, there were 4.05 billion online deliveries in 2021, resulting in 2.43 million tonnes of CO2 emissions or 600 grams for every delivery. If Liefergrün's sustainable approach were implemented across Germany, it would reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1.7 million tonnes per year, the equivalent of taking approximately 370,000 cars off the road. With 5.7 billion online deliveries expected in Germany by 2025, it's evident that effort is needed today to limit the environmental impact and allow guilt-free online shopping to continue.
In addition to striving to eliminate emissions from delivery logistics, Liefergrün is dedicated to creating excellent working conditions for its employees and suppliers by paying a decent wage and adhering to high sustainability standards throughout all business operations. Liefergrün plans to use the new funding to expand its workforce, platform, and prepare to roll out its service in key European cities such as London, Paris, and Madrid.
