Fremont, CA: Though AI brings life to the game, what attracts attention is that video games are now being trained to study their patterns to advance their processes. All of this sheds light on how far we've progressed in terms of Al.

One of the primary reasons for deploying AI in gaming is to model a human player to understand how individual players interact with a game. When designing games with AI, we typically see the following tasks being completed: first, progressing intelligent and human-like NPCs (Non-Person Characters) to improve interaction with gamers, followed by predicting human players' actions, which leads to enhanced game testing and game design. The next step would be to categorize their behaviors to personalize the game. Finally, it is time to identify common patterns or orders of actions that can control how a player performs in a game.
Companies are currently investigating new technologies and creative opportunities that they can enable in the future. However, no stone is left unturned when it comes to creating virtual worlds without a human designer who must build every inch of those worlds from scratch. When AI is used to design video games, the main focus areas are machine learning and, more specifically, reinforcement learning. Machine learning is a subset of reinforcement learning. It describes how an agent learns how to behave in a given environment by performing actions and receiving feedback. In a nutshell, this machine learning is similar to how humans or even dogs learn in their early years, where an action is performed, and feedback is received.
Let us now get to the meat of the matter: do AI games use artificial intelligence? To be more specific, many games do not employ basic AI techniques. Instead, they prefer to use simple pre-determined patterns that, to some extent, rely on AI. On the other hand, some game patterns heavily rely on AI. Another thing to remember is that game developer are not usually AI researchers.
It all boils down to that the field of artificial intelligence has increased in recent years. When the subject of interest is – improving almost every aspect of our lives, and thus the gaming industry – the set of techniques and technologies behind AI has been on the good end.
