On the flip side, many consumers will oppose to the idea of buying a connected car, given the various security and privacy risks a connected car may carry. According to a research report, nearly 37 percent respondents said that they were unwilling to spend their hard-earned money on buying a connected car owing to security concerns. While on the other hand, 35 percent of respondents expressed their desire to own a connected car—for its ability to replace manual operations. Lastly, about 20 percent of respondents mentioned they would first like to test the features through subscription-based services. Finally, the fear of security issues among consumers puts automobile manufacturers in a critical position, pushing them to keep the trajectory of their strategy toward providing adequate security measures and protect the consumer privacy.
