Oasis Labs Inc., a blockchain startup established by computer researchers from the University of California at Berkeley, today ventured into the spotlight for the first time by reporting that it has brought $45 million up in funding.
The round observed the participation of more than of 70 investors. The two greatest names on the rundown are Accel and a16z crypto, the $300 million digital currency and blockchain fund that Andreessen Horowitz initiated a month ago. Coinbase Inc. co-founder Fred Ehrsam was among the members also.

"Blockchains are poised to revolutionize much of the way we live, but many developers and organizations have understandable concerns about performance and privacy limitations that are currently hindering their ability to embrace the technology," said Dr. Dawn Song, CEO of Oasis Labs. "The Oasis platform aims to help users leverage and reclaim control over their data, and at the same time deliver superior performance and privacy capabilities. Our goal is to build the scalable and secure decentralized internet that puts users first."
Oasis intends to open its blockchain stage to developers through a invite-only testing program in August. A representative revealed to SiliconANGLE that the's startup aim is to take on not only Ethereum as well as driving cloud providers, for example, Amazon Web Services Inc.
