Software assists operators in reducing labor requirements while improving the client experience.
FREMONT, CA: Because they save manpower for order handoff while allowing rapid, contactless pickup for busy customers, smart food lockers for digital order pickup have become more prominent in major companies' designs for their "restaurants of the future."
Food lockers have become increasingly smarter in recent years. As a result, Apex Order Pickup Solutions, the leading global supplier of self-serve automated solutions for foodservice, retail, and business-to-business e-commerce, has launched ApexIQTM, its next-generation software platform. These software versions drive the company's newly released OrderHQTM Food Locker Solutions and offer unprecedented operator control levels, portfolio-wide data visibility, and analytics in food lockers.

ApexIQ, when combined with the OrderHQ pickup locker series, provides restaurant and foodservice operators with data insights to increase order handoff efficiency. "With ApexIQ, restaurant and foodservice operators can track their order create-to-load and order dwell times for every order across every store giving them the data to continuously improve - resulting in efficient processes, minimal order dwell times, happy customers, and increased profits." said Apex Order Pickup Solutions Chief Executive Officer Mike Wills. "Without this data, operators have a 'blind spot' – they can't manage, improve and delight customers in their growing off-premises business."
A leap forward in flexibility and scalability
This program connects Apex lockers with current point-of-sale and other back-of-house management systems, making it simpler for restaurants to provide quick and convenient online ordering and pickup, offering a seamless experience for staff and customers alike.
Apex provides native integrations with several foodservice sector technology giants, including Compass Boost, Fresh Technology, Grubhub, Hangry, Koala, NCR, NovaDine, Servy, Vista, YinzCam, and others. In addition, Welbilt, Inc., a worldwide foodservice equipment manufacturer, announced earlier this year a license deal with Apex to manufacture and distribute the lockers under the Merco name.
"These partnerships illustrate our commitment to providing an integrated, efficient solution to order pickup," Wills said. "The demand for takeout foodservice continues to grow, even as we approach the end of the pandemic, and we're prepared to meet the needs of the industry."
