ARV's anchor limited partners are Kevin Ryan of AlleyCorp and Eliot Horowitz of Viam, Inc., the contemporary robotics platform. ARV was formed with AlleyCorp DNA and follows the AlleyCorp approach to strategy, operations, investment, and portfolio support. Abe Murray, a former AlleyCorp partner who will remain an advisor to the company in areas other than robots and automation, leads the firm.
Over the next five years, ARV's inaugural fund will deploy $30 million in early-stage financing for incubations and investments. Robotics and automation companies in hardware and software are the firm's primary emphasis.
Murray leads ARV, having previously overseen AlleyCorp's robotics and AI initiatives after joining the business earlier this year. Murray worked as a product and technical leader at Alphabet before launching ARV. He also worked on Android and helped to build the Verily Life Science and Google Research product teams. Before Google, he started a Web 2.0 firm and worked in the defense industry on unmanned aerial vehicles. ARV expands on AlleyCorp's strategy of building expertise in key verticals such as ecommerce, media, healthcare, Web3, robotics, and material sciences." When I invest in an innovative idea, it can take years for the company to develop," said Ryan. "For robotics, we know the sector in 10 years will be five times larger, maybe 10 times larger, than it is now."
Because of its AlleyCorp-inspired operational design, which comprises just two anchor limited partners who are also founders and operators, Alley Robotics Ventures, like AlleyCorp, can develop new enterprises and aid current ones.
ARV is excited to play a critical role in assisting businesses in one of the fastest-growing areas in the coming decade, with robots performing everything from housework to drug delivery in hospitals.
