Fremont, CA: AI-powered E-Sports tournament platform Game.tv raised USD 25 million in a Series A funding round led by Intel Capital. The company also announced the launch of its new platform, Tourney, via Discord and tournament web app. The proceeds from the latest funding round will be used towards the growth of its mobile gaming communities through sponsorships and additional plug-ins, and scale the development of its core product, Tourney. The new platform allows players to set up and operate tournaments directly through the Discord app, Twitter, and Facebook.
"AI is the key. In esports today, it is difficult to make money unless you are running large professional tournaments and events. Most tournaments run and make money from sponsorships, which exist only for the big events. AI doesn't need to make money in order to host an event, thus enabling tournaments in communities at any scale so long as people are willing to participate," said Rosen Sharma, CEO of Game.tv.

E-Sports have always stood out when compared to traditional sports. Traditional sports have the time and structure to bring players from tee-ball and small leagues to the MLB platform, or even driveway hoop pl
ayers to the NBA. E-Sports are played across a million different fields, and it does not include a direct path for players to go from amateur to pro. One of the foundational ideas of Game.tv is the belief that community-based esports is fundamental to a healthy esports ecosystem - an ecosystem that currently focuses only on professionals.
"In researching the emergence and growth of mobile esports, we identified Game.tv as having unique technology and business model," said Lisa Hanson, Managing Partner at Niko Partners. "As the mobile esports segment expands, Game.tv is well-positioned to build a substantial user base, scale its services, and be an important player in this space." The Silicon Valley headquartered E-Sports platform has an extensive network spread across over 20 countries, including Japan and Korea. Game.tv is led by gamers with reliable track records of building mobile games and growing the portable esports fan and player base.
