Affordable Immunotherapy Cancer Treatments A Reality

Cancer immunotherapy is an expensive treatment, making it impossible for many patients to afford it. However, its efficacy in fighting the disease has sparked hope for patients’ worldwide, increasing demand for the treatment.

Auxi Therapeutics provides AuxiCART, the autologous/ allogenic CAR-T cell therapy with target antigens for CD19/CD22 and BCMA that indicate hematologic malignancies such as pediatric and adult refractory/relapsed B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), diffused large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and multiple myeloma. AuxiCART also includes personalized brain-specific CAR-T cell therapy to treat refractory/relapsed Glioblastoma multiforme in coming new quarter 2023.

Auxi Therapeutics is also committed to developing and providing dendritic cells - cytokine-induced killer (DC-CIK) therapy for solid tumor cancer patients. Primarily available for Malaysian citizens, it can boost up the immune system and its defense mechanism against solid tumours such as adrenocortical carcinoma, soft tissue sarcoma, and breast cancer.

Being located in Malaysia, with its progressive and affordable healthcare programs, has enabled Auxi Therapeutics to increase the availability and accessibility of its T-cell therapy treatments. This allows patients and their families to evade financial dependency on insurance policies that might not cover immunotherapy.

It also strives to register its treatment in different countries to eliminate regulatory constraints that hinder access to T-cell therapy, therefore making the treatment easily available for refractory patients worldwide.

“We would like to cooperate with Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia by providing affordable T-cell therapy locally, rather than having a patient fly to Malaysia for the treatment,” says Penny Tan, Cell Therapy, Global Lead at Auxi Therapeutics.

Being a one-stop solution for cancer patients, Auxi Therapeutics is also instrumental in crafting a seamless end-to-end healthcare journey for local and foreign patients. It works closely with local hospitals’ hematology and oncology departments by providing patient counselling, including managing their hospitality matters if they are foreign nationals. The company’s highly experienced and trained in-house medical consultants and hematologist nurses step in, if necessary, to advice patients or guide treating doctors of partner hospitals. Follow-up checkups and therapy are also provided a year or two after the treatment to evaluate the chances of relapse.

Auxi Therapeutics has successfully treated a significant number of patients with CAR-T cell therapy coupled with followup checkups in regular intervals, indicating complete remission within months after the treatment was administered. This feat placed it well ahead of its competitors in Southeast Asia.

The proof of its achievement can be explained through one of a successfully treated 6 year old patient who was diagnosed with B-cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Auxi Therapeutics administered the CAR-T cell therapy after which the patient achieved complete remission in a month and remained free of any leukemia-event for more than 5 years at present.

The founder’s mission is to help more patients in Southeast Asia, and eventually, the world, receive affordable treatment and contribute back to society, which Auxi Therapeutics strives to fulfil every day. Its efforts are reflected in the 70 to 90 per cent remission of B-cell ALL patients who were administered its T-cell immunotherapy treatments in private and government hospitals. Moreover, the biotechnology company has new solutions in its pipeline, still in its preliminary stage of clinical trials, which is modifying existing CAR-T and DC-CIK cells with mRNA and gene editing. With successful remission cases and new developments, Auxi Therapeutics is committed to continuing its efforts and thereby saving more lives.
