Automation Hero has raised $14.5 million in a series A round of funding led by Atomico, with participation from Baidu Ventures and Cherry Ventures. Automation Hero, which was earlier called SalesHero is a platform that meshes robotic process automation (RPA) with artificial intelligence (AI) to help businesses automate repetitive software-based processes.

The latest round of funding raises Automation Hero’s total amount to $19 million, with $4.5 million raised in the last April. Ben Blume, Principle for Atomico will be joining Automation Hero’s Board of directors.

RPA has become a driving force for an organization’s efforts to optimize workflows through automation and machine learning. RPA tools sit on top of a company’s applications and observe an employee at the user interface level. The tool observes the work of an employee to automate the entire process. RPA tools can also provide around the clock services according to the requirement of a company. The tool can handle many workloads like continuously extracting data from LinkedIn, entering into a customer relationship management (CRM) database, completing and submitting a web form, and so on. RPA tools provide an efficient solution that can eliminate human errors with the use of machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence. These solutions allow companies to use their workforce towards more productive operations and processes.

RPA technology is at the center of investment patterns as in recent months a slew of RPA investments have come to fruition. For example, UiPath has raised $225 million from companies like Alphabet’s CapitalG, Sequoia, and Accel, Softomotive secured 425 million, Automation Anywhere nabbed $ 300 million from SoftBank’s Vision Fund, and Kryon bagged $40 million.

Automation Hero is stressing on intelligent process automation (IPA), which use AI to enhance the capabilities of the RPA solution. The company is not selling itself strictly as an RPA platform as its platform was built with AI and machine learning at its core from the get-go.
