The goal of today's smart city is just limited to connected infrastructure and smarter things; it has gradually shifted towards better services and a higher quality of life. Disruptive technologies and data have become critical components of the target, smart city 2.0, which can together change a city to a more environmentally sustainable, secure and safe and economically attractive place providing a better quality of life to its people. Industry leaders are also working towards it with a focus on reducing wastage, pollution and CO2 emission. The new initiative is also aimed towards redefining the usage of existing sensors and controls, and the data that comes with it. For example, officials can leverage data to adjust energy usage, make transportation networks safer and efficient. In addition, the risk of rising crime rates, poverty, and civic unrest can be avoided with the help of drones and surveillance cameras. As technologies continue to boost the transformation of smart city to smart city 2.0, StartupCity presents its smart city special edition, featuring insights from industry thought leaders and innovative solution providers.
