Bangalore: Facebook community which allows users to write about their food journeys, EatTreat raises Rs. 2.22 crore in its angel round of funding from 15 investors including Divitas Capital, Homi Adajania - Filmmaker, Bandana Tewari - Fashion editor, Shiv Khanna - Director, Catalyst Ventures, Nonita Kalra - Editor and many more. The fund will be utilized to bring the product to life, construct infrastructure and craft key hires of talent.
Founded in 2014 by Arjun Sawhney, Eattreatonline.com serves as a platform for home chefs and professionals in the food industry to encourage themselves. Since inception, the firm aims to overpass the gap between consumers and providers and show how to cook, where to eat and many more to the users. Today, the firm claims to have over 50,000 members on its Facebook group along with 18 employees on board now, including photographers and chefs.
An extension of the Facebook page, the site is expected to go live by next month and will encourage dialogue among foodies and generate revenue through advertisement. Promises to reach across the spectrum by targeting home cooks and food lovers to restaurateurs, retailers and e-Commerce executives, the firm is also planning to raise an institutional round of funding by the first half of 2016.
