Mumbai Based Online Food Ordering Startup Grab Raises Seed Funding

Bangalore: Mumbai based online food ordering and delivery startup Grab raises $1 million in seed funding from Oliphans Capital along with Haresh Chawla – former CEO of Network18. The fund will be utilized to expand its team as well as service to newer markets.

Incorporated in 2012 by Jignesh Patel, Nishant Vora and Pratish Sanghvi, India’s online food delivery platform Grab is a hyper local delivery service that focuses on restaurants and food enterprises. Today, the firm has clients namely Subway, Global Grill, Spaghetti Kitchen, Pizza Roma, Smokin Joes, Noodle Bar, Cocoberry, Moti Mahal, Brunch Munch, Tandoor Se, Birdy’s, Theobroma, The Yellow Chilli, Maroosh, Zaafran, Mainland China, and many more.

Currently operational with over 350 restaurants in Mumbai, the company claims to have processed delivered orders worth Rs. 35 crore and has got over 600 riders who deliver food within just 20 minutes.

Expanding its reach, the company has recently started operations in Pune and plans to employ 800 riders in order to deliver 7000 orders a day across 700 outlets. The company additionally endeavors to attempt into conveying tiffin's to contend with the dabbawallas.
