Bangalore: Tech startups can now sit back and relax if they have already developed the product they have so wished for. Amazon will take charge of the marketing, storing, selling, shipping, customer service and return of those items. Partnering with Andreessen Horowitz and Y Combinator Amazon Launchpad, a marketplace inside Amazon web-store, will be dedicated to the physical products of Silicon Valley startups. Yet, all startups with their fancy gadgets won’t be eligible for the Launchpad program. Only those which are backed by VC firms, gone through an accelerator or have successful crowd-funding campaigns can partner with Amazon for selling of the products. Launchpad currently hosts 200 products in 15 categories that include home Wi-Fi system from eero, Soma sustainable pitcher & plant based water filter and smart sport band from Wearables DVB.
This program is aiming to be global with access to 10 of its international portals for distribution. In a recent statement, Vice President, Amazon said that as the pace of innovation continues to increase within the start-up community, Amazon wants to help customers discover unique products and learn the inspiration behind them.
Making a difference with other e-Commerce websites and web-stores, Amazon can help in creating an impact for the startups. Amazon’s latest program is fairly close to the concept of this e-Commerce giant’s March launch, called ‘Amazon Exclusive’ where it showcased ‘up-and-coming’ brands’ products. This silver lining playbook for the start-ups can create zeal in the gizmo industry. Customers will also be able to experience a new and innovative line of products from the next ‘Steve Jobs’.
