Bengaluru: AgroStar, a Pune-based m-Commerce platform, raises $4 million in a financial round led by IDG Ventures India. Its existing investor Aavishkar also contributed to the round. The company plans to extend its business operations to 3-4 new states in India in the upcoming years and enhance its technology and leadership teams using the fresh funds.

The contrivance of Sitanshu Sheth and Shardul Sheth (earlier manufactures/distributors of organic fertilizers and plant nutrients), AgroStar was incepted in the year 2013. The m-Commerce company sells quality agricultural products directly to the farmers. The farmers can get hold of a wide range of agricultural goods and services like seeds, nutrients, crop protection and other hardware equipments just by giving a missed call to the company’s 1800 number or through the mobile app.

Currently, the company has offices in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and claims to have strategic tie-ups with many multinational companies whose agricultural products can be bought through AgroStar.
